Engagement Pictures

I just read Hermana Amy Loveless' weekly email from Chile. She said she cheats and sometimes reads blogs, and for some reason, that made me really happy. So she knows Kelly's home and we're engaged. Thanks for the congrats Amy, if you read this when you're cheating! And of course we'll send you an announcement. So for her and everyone else who hasn't already seen them on Facebook, I thought I'd share a few engagement pictures.

Big news!

Last night Kelly wanted to go to "our bridge," which is just a tiny little footbridge over a tiny stream out in some trees that hardly anyone knows about. Before his mission we used to go there all the time when we wanted to talk or whatever, so I didn't find his request to go there weird. So we went and he pulled out a letter and said, "Here's the last letter I wrote to you on my mission" so I was excited and read it and he had just written about how grateful he was that I was brave enough to date him and share the gospel with him and then wait for him on his mission and he wrote about all the ways he has grown and the blessings he's received for serving. Then there was a little paragraph about how much he loves me and I've made him so happy and then it said, "So Dani, I have to ask you a question..." and that was the very end of the letter! So I looked up at him just as he was pulling a ring out of his pocket and he said, "Dani Marie Crouch, will you marry me?" And of course I said yes! We're engaged!!! And I love Kelly! And we're finally getting married! And the ring is perfect! And I love Kelly!

I smiled so huge the whole rest of the evening. Kelly kept saying he'd never seen me so happy before. Of course! He just freaking proposed!!!

Kelly's Home!!!

Today we spent a perfect day
Together.
Cuddling on the couch
Watching Caspian save Narnia
While rain turned to snow outside.

Your cat scratched me again,
But I don't care.
You know, two years
Feels a lot shorter
On this side of things.

Laughing is my favorite.
Your eyes look like
Blue crescent moons
When you smile that big.

You made dinner
And I helped with the dishes.
Don't you think Rosemary is a nice name
For a seasoning?

Driving home I thought the canyon walls
Looked like they had been lightly dusted
With powdered sugar,
Like the way I eat French toast.

Sugared canyon walls.
Delicious.

So beautiful it made me cry
And wish I was a poet.

Job?

Today I interviewed for a job I REALLY want! (Not to mention need!) When I got there I found out there were A LOT of applicants interviewing today. The interview went quite well, I felt, and the interviewer told me they would narrow it down to four people who would have a practical interview tomorrow actually doing some of the stuff the position will require. So I left my name and email, hoping against hope to be one of the few chosen. I checked my email around 5:30 to find that there was no word from the Ogden City School District in my inbox, so I felt kind of let down. I've been trying and trying and praying and praying for something to come through for me. As many of you are aware, I haven't had a job since August, except UIA where I work on an as needed basis, but with the economy as it is, they haven't needed me much at all. I think I've worked there about six hours total in the last three months. I did a bit of substitute teaching down in Cedar City, but that wasn't providing many hours either. (My spirits lifted a bit when I discovered two Kelly emails forwarded by his parents in my inbox!) But I decided to check again just now and I'M ONE OF THE FOUR! So I'm interviewing tomorrow at 3PM. Pray for me please!

So I was thinking...

So I was thinking that my life is getting to the point of "morbidly boring" so I have nothing to write about to my dear readers. I mean, just to give you some idea I started the Harry Potter series again 3 days ago and now I'm halfway through The Order of the Phoenix (that's book 5 in case you're out of it enough to not know that). I kept thinking that when Kelly gets home then I'll actually have something to write about.

I can post pictures of meeting him at the airport and write about his crappy grasp of the English language, and then move on to the fun things we will do. Believe me, before he left we did a lot of fun stuff. The first summer we dated we ate at nice restaurants probably about 5 times a week. Of course that was back when he had money to burn, but the next summer when we were both dirt poor we had even better adventures. We hiked all over and had run-ins with rattlesnakes; we walked his dog Chester around and around the church next to his house; we stargazed and had bonfires and canoed and drove all over in that Mercedes of his. Our lunch breaks were at the same time, so I'd always pack a lunch for two and go over and eat it with him. He'd come get me early in the morning and take me to the valley to watch the sunrise and then cook me breakfast. We'd talk for hours and laugh and tease one another. We had Super Smash Brother tournaments and were very competitive when it came to fuse ball. We'd walk miles around the pond at Beus Park and get Jake's Over the Top grasshopper shakes. He'd tease me about how I'm scared of birds and one time he threw me right into the middle of a gaggle of geese. I screamed like a banshee and took off running and he was laughing until the geese started chasing us. He runs faster than I can, so I launched myself onto his back shrieking my head off. He learned his lesson quickly and never did that again. We'd get tacos on 25th street and watch movies and play tag. Life felt so sunny and full of laughter and smiles all the time. So I'm sure I'll have plenty more to write about come Friday, but the other day I realized something: when Kelly is home, I probably won't make time to update this for a long time. I'll just have better things to do. Sorry guys.
